Carnival

YesterDay's Carnival Air ached my Heart - I knew not why.
My Heart *always* aches if I visit a Fayre
My child rode around in a little car & smiled;
the Music in his eyes tickled me to tears...
La gran rueda* spun lazily in a carefree Sky,
run by a man who'd arrived from afar, after an arduous, dangerous, 8-Day Journey...
I nearly cried: Joy at my child, while pain for my brothers,
who run the juegos (rides) for other dad's sons,
while they'd rather be home with their own...
May you be well, may Peace be with you, lads...

* rueda : wheel.... "la gran rueda" :  big ferris wheel

For Arthur Phillips, in anticipation of the publication of his controversial new Masterpiece, THE TRAGEDY OF ARTHUR

I count the hours til my voracious eyes
My Soul, my Heart experience his Work,
A controversial Masterpiece, I'm told
He puzzles MasterMinds of Medieval lore

Centuries melt with bold strokes of his pen
a New Bard born for Immortality;
Two Lives? Your eyes shine mirth in mirrored halls
You tease, you thrill  the Minds of kindred Souls

Who, Bard, in your gilt pages, plumed this play ?
I pray you be not jailed for stepping forth
To show the World the Greatness of a Scribe
Whose pen afloat in shadow ever lies...

I wish this book would never end...

Seven Springs in Seven Songs, for Leo (excerpts)

Canto I

You can climb that Tree, sweet angel, my son;
Reach the puffy dancey face and hold her!
Who cares if people say you can't eat Clouds?

Canto II  Cloud Sandwiches

Cloud sandwiches taste divinely sweeter
layered in ribbons of Cerulean Summer
Toasted to warm in celestine yellow Light.
NewBorn giddy green, aglow upon your plate,
Smiles up in your eyes, as trees, reflected, do.
At seven, you know the deep love of her smiles;
Hold tight my hand; we'll visit Seven Springs

Trio

Egyptian Queen: Her Dreams, your Screen, my Stage;
Thespian three swirl fantasies, drench your Dreams;
Patchouli-scented Air seduces kings,
Slain supplicant heroes at our painted feet.

Bronzed Feline deities, eyes wink, serpentine,
see all who pass these deep dark caverned paths,
musted over in clay Moon’s crimson dust,
twined ghost queens forever his majesty’s demise…

Egyptian Queen: Her Dreams, your Screen, my Stage;
Thespian three swirl fantasies, drench your Dreams;
Patchouli - aroma-ed Air seduces kings;
Slain supplicant heroes beg at our painted feet.

Jeweled moonbeams writhe nude inside us upon this Stage;
You came to me in Night’s damp drizzled clothes,
A moor-bound waif; you begged I’d grant your stay;
Your escape rode soft on my trance, through silver Night.

We broke our Journey to find our ancient Queen;
Heavy desert Air! She coughed as she awoke;
We lifted her, moved her, weightless to heaven’s stage
You sang her silent songs, gleamed stars upon her screen.

Gold trinkets, Silver! Pearls! Your feline eyes!
Our Queen, their screen, my stage, have you disguised;
You passed anew through one more curtained Dream;
We shall seek you, then away with our Ancient Queen!

Our Trio sings for those whose heads may turn
To feel foreign Wind, to whiff perfume-d Air
Of royalty, though steeped in other Times -
Three queens, our Hearts are yours: all men who dare…

Egyptian Queen: Her Dreams, your Screen, my Stage;
Thespian three swirl fantasies, drench your Dreams;
Patchouli - aroma-ed  Air seduces kings;
Slain supplicant heroes beg at our painted feet.

Tatoo

A tingle tickles my tiny ear,
the ear with which I wreathed your sweet neck (mine)
I send armies of faeries to remove her trancing eyes from your smile
She throws fingernail daggers; "Be gone, prancing faeries!"
A tingle tickles a tiny ear;
a tattoo inside your fickle heart inflates,
forms eerie madhouse shapes
I am your only witness
My minions sharpen tiny lethal claws

**(yes, I know it hasn't any meter...that's why I call this a "workshop")
Thanks for reading in my playground :)

Aztec Eyes Canto III ? Pictures from the Big Pure Airy Round Box

Below lie a few toys; I opened the box as gingerly as I could, but these flew out.
I've been working on Canto III of a
project started long ago.
I think these scenes are only a review...

("un cerro" is Spanish for a hill;
"un cerrito" signifies a little hill- "ito/ ita" may also be a term of endearment)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One place I lived Before: a beautiful Life in rural Mexico's serene,  immaculate Air.
Los conquistadores had not yet plundered...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Upon a cerro in the Sky, his eyes shone diamonds; he tasted my tears;
he smiled, flashing teeth, pure brute monte pearls

My Spirit sailed across la sierra to las Madres,
who toiled with calloused ranchito hands,
  Gifting Light to pulque, heaven-blend.
They bade me sip mystic Mountain GoddessWine
~~~~
I followed his chameleon form;
his large dark hands blinded my eyes;
el cerrito's face scraped crimson rivulets down my legs
& cut my psyche
*el cerrito : the little hill
*yes, this is, indeed, a recap
